WASHINGTON,DC – Whistleblower attorneys Erika A. Kelton and Colette G. Matzzie, partners at Phillips & Cohen LLP, have been selected for Lawdragon’s 2013-2014 “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list for their successful whistleblower cases.
Kelton represented the whistleblowers in the nation’s top two healthcare fraud settlements. Her “qui tam” (False Claims Act) cases accounted for the major recoveries in both GlaxoSmithKline’s $3 billion settlement with the government in 2012 and Pfizer Inc.’s $2.3 billion settlement in 2009. The separate qui tam lawsuits alleged that Glaxo and Pfizer engaged in “off-label marketing” of certain drugs for unapproved uses that endangered patients health and lives.
Matzzie’s recent cases include a qui tam lawsuit against Verizon Communications that alleged the company overcharged the government for voice and data communication services and a whistleblower case against Boehringer Ingelheim that alleged off-label marketing and kickbacks by the pharma company. This was the third year in a row Matzzie has been named to the “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list.
Phillips & Cohen attorneys have been selected to Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list every year since 2007 for their success with whistleblower cases.
