Whistleblower attorneys Mary Louise Cohen, Erika Kelton, and Colette Matzzie, partners at Phillips & Cohen LLP, were among the 500 “Leading Lawyers in America” named in the latest print edition of Lawdragon Magazine.
Only a handful of whistleblower attorneys made the list. Phillips & Cohen attorneys were the only ones from a practice devoted solely to representing whistleblowers.
Cohen is a founding partner of Phillips & Cohen. Lawdragon once called her “a legend for creating [the] qui tam/whistleblower practice.”
Kelton has several major whistleblower victories under her belt, including a $32 million award from the SEC for a whistleblower client in 2014, which was the largest whistleblower award the SEC has given out under the program created by the Dodd-Frank Act.
This year marks Matzzie’s fourth consecutive appearance on Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list. Lawdragon has described her as a “brilliant advocate for whistleblowers,” particularly focusing on her $93.5 million qui tam case against Verizon that alleged the company overcharged the government for voice and data communications services.
Lawdragon has selected Phillips & Cohen attorneys for its “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list the past eight years in a row.
