WASHINGTON, DC – Three partners from Phillips & Cohen LLP were panelists at various sessions of the Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund conference for whistleblower lawyers held this week in Washington, DC.
The conference was attended by several hundred whistleblower lawyers. It featured as speakers the top practitioners in the whistleblower field and key government officials, including the US acting associate attorney general, Stuart Delery, and a number of US Attorneys from various states.
Erika Kelton moderated a discussion with the directors of the Internal Revenue Service and Commodity Futures Trading Commission whistleblower offices. Claire Sylvia provided tips for whistleblowers and their attorneys on how to prepare for qui tam cases, even before they are filed.
Colette Matzzie discussed the latest court interpretations about what are considered “false claims” under the federal False Claims Act.
