This is the fifth consecutive year that Phillips & Cohen has been named to the “Best Law Firms” list.

Phillips & Cohen is ranked as a “Metropolitan Tier 1” law firm in healthcare law on the regional “Best Law Firms” list for Washington, DC, in the healthcare law category.
The Tier 1 label, according to Best Lawyers, reflects a firm’s standing among other leading lawyers and clients in the same regions and corresponding practice areas.
Phillips & Cohen’s attorneys have represented whistleblowers in record-setting healthcare cases, including the two largest healthcare fraud settlements to date: a $3 billion settlement by GlaxoSmithKline and a $2.3 billion settlement by Pfizer Inc.
In the past year, Phillips & Cohen’s attorneys has represented healthcare whistleblowers in several significant healthcare fraud settlements:
- West Virginia’s Wheeling Hospital agreed to pay $50 million to settle a Phillips & Cohen whistleblower lawsuit alleging violations of the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute.
- Medical equipment maker ResMed agreed to pay $39.5 million to settle several whistleblower lawsuits – including one brought by Phillips & Cohen – alleging the company paid kickbacks in the form of free “resupply services.”
- Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas paid $500,000 to settle a Phillips & Cohen whistleblower lawsuit alleging that electronic health records company Viztek (acquired by Konica Minolta) had cheated on certification tests to hide serious issues with its software.
